Frequently Asked Questions

Can beginners come to this class?

Absolutely.  We designed this class with novices in mind.  Each lesson starts with us demonstrating what you need to do.  Then you will go to your lab table and your team will do the same thing under the guidance of one of our lab instructors.  It's easy and fun!

Everything we teach is covered in our step-by-step student manual so you will have a reference to take home with you.

If you don't own a smoker,  this is a great way to learn which models would be best suit your needs.

What will I learn to cook?

We always cook the big four: brisket, ribs, pulled pork and chicken.  We also always make sides and desserts but which recipes may change from class to class.  We also add 3-6 special items.  Past items have included, chicken wings, drumsticks, pork loin, turkey legs, thanksgiving turkey, and fish.  We are open to requests so give us a shout before your class.

How much is class?

$249-$299. For an individual signing up alone it costs $299.  Sign up with a friend or family member and we'll knock $100 off the total cost-- $249 per student.   Either way you will receive ten hours of hands-on instruction,  three meals,  and and a guest pass to our full BBQ banquet.

What is your cancellation policy?

100% refund for a cancellation prior to 1 week before the class, or you may reschedule for another available class.  A cancellation the week-of or the week before a class usually results in an empty seat for us and so we cannot offer a refund.  Same goes, of course, for a no-show.   You may sell your seat to someone else but you must notify us via email so we can register them.  We will not allow anyone to attend our class who is not on our student roster.

How can I buy this for someone as a surprise?  Do you have gift certificates?

Absolutely.  Click on enroll now and select 'Gift Certificate'.  Enroll in their name here but give us your telephone and email.  Be sure to mention it is a surprise. If you'd like, a gift certificate include that in the message field with your address.

What do I get for my tuition?

Ten hours of hands on instruction where you will work shoulder-to-shoulder with us Pro's and learn to prepare a wide variety of BBQ dishes. Come hungry because we serve breakfast,  lunch and a Dinner Banquet featuring the delicious BBQ you cooked.  Don't forget to invite a guest of your choice to attend the Banquet.  You also get a step-by-step BBQ manual with all our recipes,  and an apron you can take home and wear with pride.  After you graduate you can get on-going e-mail support from your instructors.

Who teaches the class?

Class is taught by Grand Champions with years of experience and the trophies to prove it.  We also have assistants and a pit master watching over the smokers at all times.

What type of smoker should I buy?
